TYPE: Crescit in Regno Novo-Granatensi, prope Turbaco, alt. 180 hex. Floret Majo, Humboldt & Bonpland s.n. (lectotype designated by Romero & Jenny (1993)).

TYPE: Costa Rica. Clairieres des bois aux plaines du Pacifique, pres Guacimal, alt. 100-150 m, A. M. Brenes no. 294, VIII. 1922. Fleurs tachetees et lavees de rouge-brun au fond vert (holotype, B, destroyed; lectotype designated by Barringer (1986), NY; drawing of type, AMES).
